From Chipppewa on 9/7/20

Hi everyone,

It has been almost 6 months since Chippewa closed down indoors due to the Coronavirus. This Wednesday, September 9th, Chippewa will open indoors for tennis and fitness. If you are like me, there have been a lot of ups and downs during these past 6 months. We still have a long way to go, but we are slowly getting back to some sense of normal.

I want all of you to know that I would not be a part of opening the club if I did not think we could do it safely. Here are some of the things we will be doing.

Maintenance, desk, and pro staff will be constantly cleaning using disinfectant approved by the health department before, during, and after people come in to play or workout.
Masks should be worn when entering the building, when you go down to play tennis or work out, and when you come off the court or up from the fitness area. No exceptions!
Temperature checks will be taken when entering the building.
You must sign in every time you come in to the club. This sheet will be at the front desk when you come in.
Please wait in your car if you show up early to play. Unfortunately, we can't just hang out at the club. We need to keep our distance!
Unless you are bringing a child under the age of 10, we are asking that you do not come watch your friends, family members, etc. come play. We need to keep at least 6 feet of distance and we can't do that if a lot of people come to watch. I am sorry about that.
Locker rooms will be used for toilets, hand washing, and quick changes only. Showers will be closed.
Hand sanitizer will be on all courts and in the fitness center for use.
Water will not be on the courts. Chippewa has installed a touchless water bottle filling station in the hallway between courts 4 and 5 that you may use to get water.
Towels will not be given out. Please bring your own towel.
We have spread out all of the fitness equipment. We have the equipment in four rooms downstairs plus the hallway on the court level. Please, no more than 4 people to a room. Wear your mask and keep your distance!
When using fitness equipment, you must wipe down your machine both before and after use. We will be wiping down the equipment as well, but we can't be there every second. This is to keep everyone safe.
You, as members, are all part of the Chippewa family. As part of that family, we want to assure you that we are doing everything we possibly can to make this the safest environment possible. That being said, conditions are constantly changing. We will update these protocols as warranted by the state and other government agencies. Like I have said before, all studies out there show tennis is one of the safest, if not the safest activity people can partake in. Each court providing 7,000 square feet of space provides plenty of room for social distancing. Tennis is a great way to stay active and safe during these strange times. As the weather starts to turn, I hope to continue to see many of you at the club.

September schedule
We will keep our September program schedule until September 19th. We will be running all programs outdoors, but we will have indoor backup starting Wednesday in case it rains. I will send a schedule of what comes after the 19th soon. Most will be the same, with a few additions and time changes for groups that used to play later in the evening. Seasonal court time will still start Monday, September 28. If your group wants to start sooner, let me know and I can get you started as soon as you are ready.

I know there is a lot of information here. Let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you at the club!

Be well!
